Our College bears a good heritage to run NSS and NCC as a Part of co-curricular activities. The NSS offers help to students in career guidance, skill development on First Aid, Public Speaking, HIV/AIDS awareness, to expedite community development projects and other Socio-Economic issues. Every year about 300 students can enrol their names to become members of NSS spread in three units on first-come-first-serve basis. A student is entitled to get a certificate provided she –
- Attends 40 Sundays for two years and 2 hrs in each Sunday to devote herself to community service.
- Attends at least one class / week for two years continuously for orientation programme & skill development.
- Attends one special camp for seven days every two years.
The NCC Unit of this college, comprising 160 cadets, has already made a mark for itself in the national scene, two girls having been selected for the Republic Day Parade in Delhi each year since 2008. It is also to be mentioned that students are recruited into the Police services every year from among the N.C.C cadres. Training camps are held throughout the year, and cadres often have to go outside the state to attend camps. Great importance is being placed on the NCC by the government, and the college is working at par with the needs of the country.

- Special training programme for Girls & Women.
Nowadays owing to increasing tension and pressure of studies on girls, physical, mental & social problems are increasing. Some common examples of multifarious illnesses as a result of this are as follows :
Girls : Juvenile Diabetes, Obesity, Nervous breakdown, Arrogance, Dissobedience, etc.
Women : Obesity, Blood pressure, Blood sugar, several Cardiac problems, Neurological & joint problems, Irritation, Lack of self-confidence etc. To overcome all these, Karate can help more than anything else.
Miscellaneous Activities
Excursion
Educational tours as well as Excursions are part of our teaching and curricula. The college organises a general tour every year. Apart from this, the science students, particularly belonging to Geography, Botany, Zoology & Environmental Science Departments, must take part in the Educational excursions for the partial fulfilment of university syllabus.
Herbal Garden
The College maintains a herbal garden to nurse herbal plants having medicinal value. A good number of plants are collected from different parts of Purulia district and the students are informed about the same under the guidance of the Department of Botany. The Botany department also organizes nature-study and excursion for the same.
Magazines and Journals
Besides the annual College Magazine, the different departments also publish wall magazines to encourage the blooming writers of the future. The journal “Heteroglossia”, an internationally renowned publication, is regularly published by the English Department. The Bengali, Economics & Chemistry Departments also have various publications of their own.
Games and Sports
The College provides facilities for indoor as well as outdoor games to its students. Students regularly practice in the college ground and indoors after college hours. A committee headed by a teacher is in charge of the sports events of the college. Every year students of this college successfully compete in several district level and state level competitions. The Annual Sports Competition identifies the most talented sports prospects of the College and encourages them through attractive prizes. The college has been the women’s champion in the District level Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet, organized by the Govt. of W.B., 4 times in the last 5 years.
Social and Cultural Activities
Social and Cultural competitions take place in the college throughout the year. The Students Union, with the help of the teachers and students, organizes such competitions. Some of the major events which take place are the Annual Cultural Competition, Reception for new entrants, Farewell for outgoing students, Saraswati Puja etc.
Every year students of this college participate in several Inter-college as well as University-level debates, symposia, music, drawing, recitation and other competitions and make this college proud by securing good positions.
Students Union
The College has an elected Students union that works diligently for the welfare of the students. The union also assists and helps out the administration of the College.
